When I moved to Roatan in 2010, it was never my intention to start a school. But, God had other plans and seven years ago He planted the seed for the school in my heart and the hearts of the families of the Sandy Bay Car Wash neighborhood. God has blessed the work there, and I’m always amazed at how He’s taken us from two teachers and ten kids learning in a one-room apartment to sixty-plus students, eight teachers, and a year-long waiting list.

My parents were teachers, missionaries, and pastors. I grew up valuing education and seeing the difference a good education could make. When my daughter began school, I decided to volunteer. It was there, at the Christian school she attended, I truly began to see the lasting impact a Christ-centered education could make. A good education makes a difference. A Christian education can change a life. God opened the doors for me to start and run a non-profit Christian school in Oklahoma City for thirteen years. When the doors to the school closed, I had no clue I’d get to do it all again on the island of Roatan. And I’m so grateful I get to.

My work at the school as the lead teacher, math specialist, phonics teacher, and behind-the-scenes administrator keeps me extra-busy, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Watching the work God is doing in the lives of our students, our teachers, and the community is humbling and overwhelming, and I’m excited to see what God will do next!
